Spread over 600 acres of Albuquerque, The University of New Mexico (UNM) is a public university founded in 1889 offering bachelor's, master's, doctoral, and professional degree programs in all areas of the arts, sciences and engineering. As a Hispanic-Serving Institution, the University represents a cross-section of cultures and backgrounds. In fall of 2006, 25,817 students attended the main campus with another 6,530 students at branch campuses and education centres. The average UNM student is 27-years-old. The staff includes a Nobel Laureate, two MacArthur Fellows, 35 Fulbright scholars and several members of national academies. |
