Monash University is the largest in Australia and has seen many prominent names in the business, media, law and education sectors pass through its doors. Prominent alumni include Michael Luscombe, CEO of Woolworths, former diplomats, and politicians Peter Costello MP and Richard Alston. Last year, it was awarded an estimated $50 million in National Health and Medical Research Council grants - a quarter of all the prizes on offer. The university has other campuses in South Africa and Malaysia, as well as six in Australia and prides itself on excellence, diversity, innovation and creativity. With its motto, 'ancora imparo', which means 'I am still learning', its focus is on lifelong education. It is a member of the Group of Eight lobby, which comprises Australia's universities which conduct the most research. |
