Overall 85%

Brasenose is very centrally located which makes it really easy to access the university libraries and departments, the pubs, restaurants and shops. You can pretty much get anywhere in the city within 15 minutes on foot, which is a massive bonus. People at Brasenose are pretty outgoing in general and there are lots of events and parties organised in college as well as the student bar which was always pretty busy.

Teaching 85%

I would recommend researching the fellows (i.e. tutors) at Brasenose on the website for your subject and see what their specialist areas are. This will help you get an idea of whether your areas of interest overlap with theirs. This can determine whether you'll get taught in college or at another college. Brasenose has a spacious, well-equipped main library and a specialist Law library, open 24 hours a day.

Social Life 85%

Events organised in college were always a lot of fun and very student-oriented. Brasenose had a reputation for being one of the more social colleges and was well-represented in all kinds of sports at the university which usually means a lot of boozy events! It holds a summer ball every two years as well and several times a week holds a formal three-course dinner in hall which costs less than a fiver and gives you an opportunity to feel connected to college and meet new people, or just sit with friends and enjoy a well-priced meal - where a bottle of wine is also about five quid!

Facilities 85%

Brasenose has a popular, active boatclub, a large dining hall (three meals a day and brunch on weekends - great for hangovers/lie-ins - all good value), a large common room with big TV screen, pool table, games machines. There is also a cafe which serves snacks throughout the day - great for library breaks. The other huge bonus about Brasenose is accommodation - all undergraduates (in my experience) can live in halls throughout their time at Oxford (all hall residences are centrally located in college or just off Cornmarket) which takes the hassle out of landlords etc if you had to rent elsewhere. It can also be much cheaper.

Cost 70%

Accommodation is reasonably priced and hall meals are very good value. There is an annual college fee for use of facilities (was around
