FAQs

Would most of my work be laboratory based?

Forensic Scientists mainly have to examine material found at crime scenes. Therefore most of their time will be spent in a laboratory with the appropriate equipment. However, the more experienced you are the more chance you have of attending the actual crime scenes themselves. Working hours can be variable and forensic scientists may be required to give evidence in court.

I want to be a medical physicist. Who are typical employers?

Most medical physicists are employed by the National Health Service (NHS). However, medical physicists may also work for universities, the armed forces, research organisations and medial equipment organisations. They may be required to input ideas into the design and structure of medical equipment and to produce medical devices.
