How can I approve/reject friend requests I receive?

If you would like to approve friendship requests before you become friends on StudentMASH then simply navigate to Account Settings from within Preferences where you can set your preferences for Friends requests and Wall posts.

How can I ask questions about a College/University or Course/Major?

In Beta, some Colleges/Universities have provided direct contact information on their profile so you can email a representative directly.  As StudentMASH grows you'll find that virtually every College/University will have direct contact information with a representative (a real person) from that College/University or Course/Major to whom you can address questions.

You can also ask questions using the Wall at the bottom of every College/University and Course/Major profile and also in our forums.

How can I use StudentMASH to choose a College/University or Course/Major?

It's easy to find the right College/University or Course/Major with StudentMASH.  To search, simply type in What you would like to study (Qualification or Course type) and Where you'd like to study (College/Uni name, City/Town, Country) and our search engine find all matching Colleges/Universities and Courses/Majors.

In Beta we're adding Courses and Universities daily, so if you can't find a particular Course or University right now, be sure to check back in a couple of weeks time.  We have launched with undergraduate Courses at almost 5,000 Universities worldwide, and very shortly there will be almost 20,000 Universities to choose from.

Each University and Course has its own profile page featuring real student Reviews, Videos, Images and descriptions to help you make the right decision.  We'll be adding more information soon including scholarships, fees, entry requirements and campus maps - and mashing in content from across the web including YouTube, Flickr, Wikipedia and Google.

Simply save the Universities and Courses you are interested in to your profile so you can quickly compare those you are interested in.  Shortly you'll you'll be able to compare your selections and receive instant updates with information specific to your choices.

How can I use StudentMASH to choose an Employer?

In Beta you can only find Employers by browsing by career area through the StudentMASH home page.  Shortly we will be adding fully searchable Employer profiles for 1,000s of Employers.

Each profile will feature Reviews, Videos, Images, Scholarships, Internships and other pertinent information to enable you to make a better choice.  Shortly, we will also mash in content from across the web - from YouTube, Flickr, Wikipedia and Google.

Save an Employer to your profile for future reference and shorty to receive updates.

How do I approve/reject wall posts on my profile?

f you would like to approve wall posts to your profile before they go live on StudentMASH then simply navigate to Account Settings from within Preferences where you can set your preferences for Wall posts.

How do I change my search preferences?

Navigate to Preferences (or Prefs).  You can restrict results to only show certain countries and you can also determine which country's results are shown first.  We will shortly be adding further search preferences.

How do I edit my profile information?

Navigate to your profile.  Click on Edit profile/photo.  Navigate to the section you wish to update: Basic information, Profile photo, Me (can take HTML code), Education/Career or Account settings.

How do I edit my profile picture?

Navigate to your profile.  Click on Edit profile/photo.  Navigate to the Profile photo section.  Browse your computer for the JPEG, GIF or PNG file you would like to represent you and click save.

How do I find and make friends?

Your friends might already be on StudentMASH. You can type in their email address on the friends search page to see if they are - and you can also invite them to join if they are not. You can navigate to this search page by clicking on Are you friends here yet? within the hyperlinks at the top right of every page.

You can also search for people on StudentMASH from within Advanced Search.

To befriend a StudentMASH user, simply click on "befriend" on their profile on from within a person search recent.  You will be made friends immediately for most people, although some like to check you out first.  If so, just await an email from us letting you know whether your friendship request has been accepted.

How do I invite my friends?

You can invite your friends to join from the Are your friends here yet? page, a link to which is on the top right of every page.  Simply type in your friends names and email addresses, write a personal message if you wish and click post.

How do I provide feedback on StudentMASH Beta site?

StudentMASH is currently in Beta. We welcome your feedback as we build out our service at feedback@studentmash.com or using our contact form.

How do I rate a video?

Simply click on your rating on the five circles to the right of every video on the view video page.

How do I rate an image?

Simply click on your rating on the five circles to the right of every image on the view image page.

How do I report inappropriate behaviour?

You can report innapropriate behaviour using our contact form.

How do I report inappropriate content?

Simply click on the link marked "Inappropriate" next to any Video, Image or Post that you find to be innapropriate.  The content will be immediately flagged for our attention and we will take it from there.

How do I review a College/University or Course/Major?

Simply find the profile for College/University or Course/Major you would like to review using our search engine, navigate to the Reviews section and click "Write your review".  Use the sliders to rate each section of the review and write your review, however long or short.

How do I sign up?

Sign up for StudentMASH using our Sign Up form.

How do I upload a video?

From either your own profile or the profile of a College/University or Course/Major, navigate to the Videos section and click "Add or Edit".

Browse your computer to find the video you would like to upload (we support virtually every format), add a name, description, tags and assign it to a particular College/University or Course/Major where relevant and then click save.

It takes a little while to upload and convert you video for use on the site, so please be patient while that happens.  As soon as the video is good to go, we add it to your profile and to the relevant College/University or Course/Major profile.

How do I upload an image?

From either your own profile or the profile of a College/University or Course/Major, navigate to the IMages section and click "Add or Edit".

Browse your computer to find the image you would like to upload (we support JPEGs, GIFs and PNGs), add a name, description, tags and assign it to a particular College/University or Course/Major where relevant and then click save.

As soon as the image is uploaded, we add it to your profile and to the relevant College/University or Course/Major profile.

I have not received a validation email. What should I do?

First, be patient!  If you have not received the validation email after 5 minutes, please wait another 5 before requesting another.

Second, have a check in your junk folder within Outlook, Entourage or Mac Mail, it may have ended up in there depending on the strength and accuracy of your junk mail filters.  AOL, Hotmail, GoogleMail and other online email account users should do the same.

Third, if you think the email is utterly lost, the you can go to our problem page to request a new validation email.

What if I forget my log in details?

You can retrieve your Username or Password by going to our sign in problem page.  Just let us know which one you are missing and we'll email it to you.
